How to store, travel with and refresh mirror-work, zari and velvet so your dress lasts through many celebrations.

Hand-set mirrors, zari thread and velvet all reward a little care — treated kindly, a traditional dress stays beautiful for celebration after celebration.
Store on a padded hanger in a breathable garment bag, away from direct light so the colours stay true. For heavily embroidered or coin-trimmed pieces, let the dress rest flat so the weight doesn't pull on the stitching.
Velvet creases and crushes if it's packed tight. Fold loosely with acid-free tissue between the layers, embroidery facing inwards, and hang it as soon as you arrive so the pile settles before your event.
Mirrors and zari thread are spot-clean only — never machine wash. Dab gently, never rub, and keep the piece away from perfume and hairspray which can dull the shine.
Every dress is made differently, so if a mark won't lift or you're unsure how to store a piece, send us a message. We know exactly what each dress is made of and how to keep it looking its best.
Mirror-work and velvet reward a little patience — cared for kindly, a traditional dress is worn through many celebrations.
